Bruce E. Linder

Bruce E. Linder, age 68, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on July 20, 2013 at his home. Born in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late Ernst Joseph and Elsimae Reed Turner Linder. He grew up in Paoli, PA. After graduating from Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, he then went on to teach high school biology in Millville, NJ. He received his optical training through the Benson Optical Company at The Wilmer Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital. For 37 years he owned and operated Linder Opticians on Main Street in Bel Air, Maryland, where his compassion for eyewear became an art. He loved his customers and took great interest in their lives. He was an active member of the Bel Air Business Community and knew people everywhere he went. He was a spiritual person with an ability to see things in a different way. He always saw the glass as half full. He was never judgmental and always saw the good in everyone. His friends were very important to him and he had a profound love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to teach them new things and shared with them his positive outlook on life. He enjoyed taking trips and experiencing new adventures. An avid reader, he read everything from Eskimos to dog training, loved all types of music, enjoyed gardening, antiques, fly fishing and Native American Indian artifacts.

Mr. Linder is survived by his wife, Cynthia Linder; son, Bryce Richard Linder of Aptos, CA; daughter, Alexandra Hiss Linder White of Broomfield, CO; stepdaughter, Lindsey Erin Kelly of Abingdon, MD; brothers, Richard Linder of Paoli, PA and Craig Linder of Coatesville, PA; and grandchildren, Anon, Brieon, Elijah, Kiana and Kai.
