Boyd Johnson Spicer, 87, of Edgewood, MD, passed away on March 6, 2015 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Jenkin Jones, WV, he is the son of the late Luther Samuel and Ada Viola Anderson Spicer. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a munitions operator and worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground for about 30 years, retiring in 1988, and was a member of American Legion Post 17-Edgewood and VFW-Abingdon Post. A huge baseball fan, he enjoyed watching the Orioles and Ravens. He also enjoyed traveling and visiting the Amish Country, and spending time with his dogs, cat and especially his family.
Mr. Spicer is survived by his wife of 59 years on March 10, 2015, Marian R. Caruso Spicer; son, Steven Spicer and his companion, Fabienne LaVeau, of Culpepper, VA; daughters, Deborah Kelly and husband, Joseph, of Fallston and Janet Smolenski and husband, Karl, of Edgewood; brothers, Samuel Spicer of Mountain Falls, VA and Donald Spicer of California; sisters, Dorothy Cox of California and Wanda Page of Winchester, VA; and granddaughter, Shelby Spicer. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Hardin and Buford Spicer, and sisters, Opal Bush and Madge Holbrook.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Holbrook, Keith Holbrook, Robert Baker, Boyd Spicer, Joseph Spicer and Jason Spicer.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to the Humane Society of Harford County, 2208 Connolly Road, Fallston, MD 21047.
