Bill Moore, age 92, formerly of Hedgesville, WV, passed away on December 27, 2020 at Brightview Assisted Living of Bel Air in Bel Air, Maryland from complications of the coronavirus. Born in Craig Township, Arkansas, he was the son of Dye and Mary (Webster) Moore and husband of the late Shirley Marie Moore. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a devoted member of the Hedgesville United Methodist Church and its Men's Group. He was a member of the Phoenix Society as well. He was employed by the National Security Agency from 1952-1983, by GE(RCA) from 1983-1989, and as a self-employed consultant from 1989-1990. He enjoyed watching movies and sports, playing games, doing woodworking and making pigeons fly backward. He was a past president of the Berkley County Waste Management Committee (West Virginia).
Bill is survived by his daughter; Dinah G. Hanson of Bel Air, MD; son-in-law, David M. Hanson of Bel Air, MD; two sons, James W. Moore of New Windsor, MD, Patrick (Anita) W. Moore of Olney, MD; two stepdaughters, Susan (David) Witkowski of Hanover, MD, MaryAnn Conway of Glen Burnie, MD; 14 grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by father, Dye D. Moore, mother, Mary Moore, wife, Shirley Marie Moore, former spouse, Wilma Geraldine Moore, brothers, Ed & James Moore, daughter-in-law, Sandra Moore.
In lieu of flowers donations in Bill’s name can be made to the Hedgesville UM Church, 201 S. St Mary St. Hedgesville, WV 25427.
A gathering of remembrance will be held at a later date.
