BETTY WILSON, age 94, of Plymouth, Michigan formerly of Forest Hill, died August 7, 2003 at Providence Hospital in Michigan. She was the daughter of the late James A. and Louisa Poole Mahan. She served the Harford County Draft Board for many years as its Clerk Coordinator. Mrs. Wilson was an active member for many years in St. Margaret Church in Bel Air, later moving her membership to St. Ignatius in Hickory so that she could attend Mass with her sister, the late Louise Mahan Wilson. She was a pioneer of the church Fall Festival in the 1950’s. She was a graduate of Bel Air High School and
Business School in Baltimore. Mrs. Wilson enjoyed knitting, sewing, needlepoint, cross
stitch, refinishing antiques and gardening. Her home was always filled with fresh cut flowers. She liked making grape and dandelion wines. Mrs. Wilson was very well known for her many Harford County Farm fair submissions for which she was awarded a number of ribbons. The past few years she enjoyed watching the Rockettes around Christmas. Above all, Mrs. Wilson will be remembered as being dedicated to family and friends alike and would go out of her way to help others.
She is survived by one daughter Susan A. Stoel and her husband Carl of Plymouth, Michigan, 4 grandchildren, Jeff Sims and his wife Jeni of Columbus, Ohio, Jason Sims of Fairfax, Va. Margaret Duncan, M.D. and her husband Stuart of Holland, Michigan and Katy Stoel of Gainesville, Florida, 4 Great Grandchildren; Caleb Sims of Columbus, Ohio, Amanda, Gabriella and Drew Duncan of Holland, Michigan. Along with her husband, the late Mason A. Wilson, she is preceded in death by her grandson Mark Stoel,
2 brothers, James A. Mahan, Jr., Steven Jerome Mahan and 2 sisters Louise Mahan Wilson and Mary Natalee Mahan.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Ignatius Historic Church Fund 533 East Jarrettsville Road, Forest Hill, 21050 or Hospice of Michigan, 400 Mack Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48201.
