Betty Anne Poole, age 84, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on December 30, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Robert A. and Mary E. (Panzarella) Ragan and the beloved wife of the late Russell O. Poole.
Betty Anne worked for several years as an administrative assistant at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She also dedicated time to volunteering with Meals on Wheels in Harford County, where she enjoyed delivering food to those in need. A long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Joppa, Betty Anne was an active participant in church activities and community life.
Family was at the heart of Betty Anne's life. She cherished her role as a grandmother and was a regular at her grandchildren's school and sporting events. Betty Anne took great joy in hosting family gatherings, especially during the holidays, creating memories that will last for generations.
An avid reader and expert Scrabble player, Betty Anne kept a detailed record of every book she read. She also enjoyed tackling crossword puzzles, which kept her mind sharp.
Betty Anne will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her for her warmth, generosity, and love of family.
Betty Anne is survived by her sons, Steven R. Poole and his wife Susan, and Brendan R. Poole and his wife Stephanie; seven grandchildren, Paul Poole, Matthew Poole, Courtney Poole, Cassidy Poole, Emileigh Anderson, Tessa Anderson, and Grace Anderson; sister, Mary Angela Zarcone; nephew/Godson Ryan Schinault, and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty Anne was preceded in death by her brother, Robert W. Ragan and niece, Amber D. Schinault.
