Jean Nelson

Jean Nelson, age 94, of Darlington, Maryland passed away on September 11, 2023 at Hart Heritage Estates in Street, Maryland. Born in Chelsea, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Elizabeth (Moore) Zebley and wife of the late E. Cole Nelson Sr. for 65 years. She was an RN at the Darlington Doctors office under Dr. Dudley Phillips, she loved being a nurse and helping people. Jean lived in Harford County since the 1950s. She was a member of the Lions Club for a very long time and an active member of Grace Memorial Church. Jean loved her church; she was a Sunday School teacher and a youth group leader. She also started the Gadabouts senior group and was the director and volunteer for The Twice Blessed Thrift Shop for over 20 years.

Jean is survived by her sons, E. Cole (Carolyn) Nelson Jr., Robert Michael (Mary) Nelson and William David Nelson; grandchildren, Joshua (Erin) Nelson, Laurie Bowman, Erin (Brian) Carter, Samantha Nelson, Michael (Hannah) Nelson; great grandchildren, Sarah Nelson, Emily Nelson, Devin Bowman, Sydney Bowman, Kaylea Carter, Liam Carter, Cole Wilkinson, Levi Nelson, Charlie Nelson; great great-grandchild, Hudson Carter and sister, Patricia Cullum.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jean was preceded in death by son, Donald R. Nelson and brothers, Warren Zebley, Robert Bennett, and James Bennett.
