It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Jean McCoy, age 83, announces her passing on March 11, 2025, in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Bel Air, Betty was the daughter of the late Howard and Madge (Triplett) Ellis.
Betty was a woman of many passions and talents. She was known for her love of crocheting, specially making beautiful Afghans for her family, each one a treasured gift. Her fondness for collecting Betty Boop memorabilia brought her much joy over the years. Betty was also a dedicated gardener, taking pride in nurturing her plants and creating bountiful harvests, which she often preserved by canning the fruits of her labor.
One of Betty’s greatest blessings was the caring community of neighbors she had. Their unwavering support and frequent check-ins provided her with comfort, and the family is deeply grateful for the kindness shown during this time.
Betty is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Kathy) McCoy, and Joseph McCoy; daughters, Debbie Amos, and Gwen (Terry) Pearce; grandchildren, Tiffany Kidwell, Tasha Pearce, Jennifer MacLaren, Cheryl Taylor, J.W. McCoy, Eddie Amos, and Matt Amos; seventeen great-grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: COPD Foundation, PO Box 160112 Miami, FL 33116-0112
