BETTY JO McKAUGHAN, age 72, of Joppa, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on October 14, 2005. Born in Glade Spring, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin, Sr. and Della Gray Heath Vannoy. A resident of Joppa for 50 years, she enjoyed cooking and working with crafts. She was known to her grandchildren as “Nin-Nin”.
Mrs. McKaughan is survived by her husband of 54 years, Marlin Mitchell McKaughan, Jr.; two sons, Mitchell Edward McKaughan and David Wayne McKaughan, both of Joppa; two daughters, Patricia Ann Lavicott of Orlando, Florida, and Sidna Rae McKaughan of Darlington; five grandchildren, Tina Marie Moor of Parkville, Shawn Lee McKaughan of Joppa, Joseph Marlin Toucheck of White Marsh, Daniel Alan Keister of Darlington, and Jessica Lynn McKaughan of Joppa; brothers and sisters, John F. Vannoy, Jr. of Jonesboro, Tennessee, Mary K. Dunn of Meadowview, Virginia, Jim Vannoy of Glade Spring, Virginia, Eda Haven of Indiana, Jack Vannoy of Abingdon, Virginia, George Vannoy of Seven Mile Ford, Virginia, Sue Ann Tuell of Andersonville, Tennessee, Beck Dunn Sharp of Abingdon, Virginia, Roberta (Berbie) Vannoy of Glade Spring, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one grandchild, Patricia Sue Christian and brothers and sister, Frank Vannoy, Louise Hamm Thomas and William (Billy) Vannoy.
Pallbearers were: Butch Hinnant, Jr., Scott Cimino, Bill Baynes, Paul Lescallet, Terry Phillips, and Scott Wise.
