Betty Jane Murray

Betty Jane Murray, age 85, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on November 21, 2011 at The University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer David and Anna Mildred Nicodemus Smith and wife of the late Thomas Walls Murray. She retired, after 20 years, from C&P Telephone Company where she was an administrative assistant. A member of Advent Lutheran Church, she enjoyed being with her family and friends. An avid quilter, she also enjoyed classical music, the arts, and cooking.

Mrs. Murray is survived by her son, Daniel D. Murray of Torrance, CA; daughters, Deborah M. Kitson of Media, PA and Mary L. Jones of Jarrettsville, MD; brothers, Elmer D., Charles R., Carl D., Robert L., and John P. Smith all of Lancaster, PA; sister, Lillie M. Stauffer of Lancaster, PA; grandchildren, Jason and David Sands, Donovan Preddy, and Julie, Hollie, Laura, Amy, and Scott Kitson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Thomas C. Murray.
