Betty ''Bj'' Surratt

Betty "BJ" Surratt, age 75, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on December 16, 2015 at Eckstein Center in Scottsdale, AZ. Born in Renick, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Robertson Tharp and Yuba Jane (McMillon) Tharp. She worked as a cosmetologist and began her career at Victor's in Aberdeen. She then ran her own extremely successful business in Yuma, AZ before moving back to Bel Air where she met and married her husband. For 23 years she ran Hairitage House of Beauty Salon in Bel Air. In addition to being a successful businesswoman, she was a marathon runner, private pilot, mountain hiker and motorcyclist.

Mrs. Surratt is survived by her husband of 32 years, Ned Lee Surratt; son, Alan Temple of Bel Air; brother, Harold Tharp of Havre de Grace; sister, Carol Whitt of Havre de Grace; grandchildren, Tawny Calvet, Nicki Temple and Kayleigh Temple; and great-grandchildren, Carter and Sage Calvet.
