Bessie Simmons

June 5, 1922 — January 24, 2005

BESSIE “BETTY” FRANCES SIMMONS, age 82, of Aberdeen, died at Harford Memorial Hospital on January 24, 2005. Born in Churchville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Cerny Chalone. A 1941 graduate of Havre de Grace High School, she enjoyed camping and the Eastern Shore. She served in the US Marines during WWII.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dewey Clinton Simmons, Sr.; two sons, Dewey C. Simmons, Jr. of Earleville and Gary F. Simmons and his wife, Kathleen, of Earleville; a daughter, Shirley Goforth and her husband, James, of North Pole, Alaska; a brother, William “Mickey” Chalone of Sarasota, Florida; a sister, Madeline Yon of Otter Point; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Frank Chalone and a sister, Charlotte Taylor.
