Bernice Lytle Greene died September 19 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. She was 85.
She was born in Barberton, Ohio to Francis Armstrong Lytle, a veteran of the Great War, and Florence Catherine Jones Lytle, and grew up in Akron, Ohio. In 1944 she married Robert B. Greene, and served in ministry with him to Christian Churches in Indianapolis, Fork, Maryland, Akron, and Williamsport, Pennsylvania, as well as in Naperville, Illinois for 24 years. She served as office manager for Christian Missionary Fellowship and European Evangelistic Society. Following retirement they served congregations in Tunbridge Wells, England, and in Harford County.
Bernice retired from Eastman Kodak Company in 1988 after 17 years as a Traffic Assistant for the Midwest regional office, and the following year she and her husband retired to Bel Air, near where they had lived when their children were born. A member of Mountain Christian Church, she was a talented pianist and blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, and was active throughout her life in church and community music as a singer, pianist, and choir director. And she was a gifted artist who especially enjoyed oil painting, china painting and as one who once dreamed of becoming a fashion designer, she had an eye for fashion.
Mrs. Greene was predeceased by her parents and by her brother, Edison Warren Lytle. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert B. Greene of Bel Air; by her daughter Linda L. Greene of Milton, FL, her son Stephen R. Greene of Bel Air, and her daughter-in-law Johanna Knapschaefer of Yonkers, NY; and by three grandchildren: Alicia D. Greene of New York, NY, Monica R. Greene of Pittsburgh, PA, and Philip E. Greene of Coraopolis, PA.
Pallbearers will be Tom Adams, Joe Leturgecz, Alex Lozada, Ethan Magness, Eric Olson, and Matt Silver.
