Bernard Calvin Harkins

BERNARD CALVIN HARKINS, age 76, of Forest Hill, MD, died on January 13, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born December 5, 1931 in Forest Hill, MD, he was the son of the late Paul Wilson and Olla Kirk Harkins. After graduating from Bel Air High School in 1948, he worked at Mt. Airy Farm in Port Deposit. Later he went into the Army where he served in Korea. After returning from the service, he worked on his family farm, Long View Farm in Forest Hill, until he retired in 1982. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed farming, flying, and visiting friends and shut-ins.

Mr. Harkins is survived by his three brothers, Gerald M. Harkins and Franklin P. Harkins, both of Forest Hill, MD, and Willis W. Harkins of Kimberling City, MO; his close friend, Martha Lee Grafton of Forest Hill, MD; five nieces, three nephews and four great nieces.

Pallbearers will be Edgar Kirk, Eric Rhodes, Timothy Harkins, Jeffrey Harkins, Jason Harkins, Zack Howell, and Robert Custis.

Contributions may be made to the Deer Creek United Methodist Church, 2729 Chestnut Hill Rd., Forest Hill, MD 21050.
