BENJAMIN JOSEPH SMITH, age 46, of Whiteford, MD, died on June 14, 2006 at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Robert Kenneth Smith and Connie Smith of Edgewood, MD. He was a carpenter who worked in the family firm of Robert K. Smith & Sons. According to his family, he was said by Clark Turner to be one of Harford County’s best trim carpenters. He also worked for Smith’s Care for the Elderly until his illness as their cook, a Certified Nursing Assistant and as a Medical Technician. His family also said that he loved hunting, gardening, fishing, his dogs and his family.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 9 years, Melissa S. Eikenberg Smith of Whiteford, MD; two sons, Benjamin Joseph Smith, Jr. and William Kenneth Smith, both of Whiteford, MD; two daughters, Karry Ann Allen of Darlington, MD and Cieara Anne Smith of Whiteford, MD; one brother, Robert William Smith of Edgewood, MD; three sisters, Janet Smith Morgan of Denver, CO, Susan Smith Sanders of Abingdon, MD and Rebecca Smith Woods of Edgewood, MD; and two grandchildren, Cody Habran Allen and Austin Michael Allen, both of Darlington, MD.
He was predeceased by one brother, Phillip Rodney Smith; and one sister, Linda Smith Moxley.
Pallbearers will be: Robert W. Smith, James Woods, Jon Eikenberg, John Flowers, Charles Allen, and Tom Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Smith, and Benjamin Smith Jr.
