Ben Cochran, age 80, of Joppa, MD, died on April 11, 2010 at his home. Born in Tazewell, VA, he was the son of the late Lloyd Elmer and Rita Myrtle Shaw Cochran and husband of the late Betty Naomi Harrison Cochran. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during the Korean Conflict where he earned two Bronze Service Stars and a Purple Heart. He had worked as a maintenance mechanic at Belko Corporation, as well as, two grain elevator companies. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, tinkering in his workshop, and collecting black walnuts to dry and crack.
Mr. Cochran is survived by his daughter Mary Lynn McLaughlin and husband, Neal, of Joppa, MD; brothers, John and Doug Cochran of VA and Bill Cochran of OH; sisters, Wanda Brown of OH, and Audrey Myers, Annie Hankins, Edna Traylor, all of VA; grandchildren, Jaime McLaughlin Al-Saidi and husband, Adil, of Baltimore, MD; special niece, Diana Lewis Keys of Pylesville, MD; and special friend, Evelyn Ritchie of Abingdon, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Amedysis Hospice of the Greater Chesapeake, 8003 Corporate Drive, Suite G, Baltimore, MD 21236.
