Basil H. Gaultney Sr., age 87, of Joppa, MD, passed away on March 30, 2013 at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Crumpler, NC, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Callie Elizabeth Jones Gaultney and husband of the late Gloria A. Hoffman Gaultney. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during WWII and retired, after 35 years, from Aberdeen Proving Ground, Edgewood Area where he was a security guard supervisor. He also worked for the State of Maryland in District Court as a technician. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, the VFW and DAV in Bel Air and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Gaultney is survived by his son, Basil H. Gaultney Jr. of Churchville; daughter, Jennie E. Harkins of Forest Hill; sister, Bea Blevins of Crumpler, NC; grandchildren, Matthew Jacobs of Forest Hill, Kelly Gaultney of Riverside and Amber Harkins of Street; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Trystan G. McCord of Riverside.
