Barton Jeffrey Hayes

October 14, 1947 — June 26, 2021

Barton Jeffrey Hayes, better known as "Uncle Bart" was born in Bayonne-Hudson on October 17th, 1947 to the late Edward Hayes and Sophie Nasiebowski. He was a member of the NRA and the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club. As a young boy his family moved to Point Pleasant, New Jersey where he grew up and raised a little hell. After High School, he joined the Navy and served on the USS John F. Kennedy as a Stock Clerk during the Vietnam War (67-71). After Bart's enlistment ended, he returned to New Jersey where he spent several years as a bartender at one of the local watering holes. He loved regaling his friends with all the antics that happened during that period of his life. Bart then decided he had enough of the bartending trade and began his career in the Electronic and Computer Manufacturing business. He proved his worth and soon became a production lead. He enjoyed his weekends hunting and fishing and spending much of his free time at his "CABIN" in Vermont. During the winter he would hit the Vermont ski slopes and enjoy evenings at the ski lodge with what he called the "Canadian Gang".

Fast forward a few years and Bart transformed into "Uncle Bart". He rescued a very thin neighbor that was losing a wrestling match with an overgrown tree stump. That simple act of helping grew into a strong friendship. That friendship grew into an adopted family relationship with his introduction to Barbara & Durrell Johnson and their Grandson Durrell "DJ" Johnson. Uncle Bart's family continued to grow each time he visited his adopted family in Maryland and Florida. His lively personality, wonderful sense of humor and huge heart expanded his family more and more with the addition of Patti, Greg, Dan, Chong, Al, Stacey, Maureen, Ernie, Ana, Alex, Kevin, Carmen, Louise, Allan and many more. Bart became everyone's Uncle Bart.

He has now hung his sign out…….GONE FISHING!!!!!!

In addition to his close friend, Rae Lynn Ward and her husband David Tod Ward, and many other loving friends, he is survived by his Chocolate Lab Charlie Brown.
