Barbara Swain Magness

Barbara Swain Magness, 76, long-time resident of Fallston, MD, passed away on December 4, 2015 at her home in Shrewsbury, PA . Born in Baltimore, MD, Barbara grew up in Kingsville, MD, where she was the daughter of the late George Bernard Swain and Catherine (Thompson) Swain. She was a devoted wife, mother of four and grandmother of seven, and her extended family was a priority in her life. Following raising her four children, she worked several years for the Edgewood Corporation and more than 10 years for the Harford County Public Library, at both the Bel Air and Fallston branches, before retiring in 2010. She was an active member of N.A.R.F.E.

Mrs. Magness is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles Reed Magness; children, Catherine "Kate" Young and husband, Edward, of Jarrettsville, Charles "Skip" R. Magness Jr. and wife, Angelica Magness of Crownsville and Mark C. Magness of Bel Air; brother, George B. Swain of Timonium; and grandchildren, Brad Young, Bryan Young, Philip Magness, Jenna Magness, Sean Magness, Gabrielle Magness and Charles Magness. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, David A. Magness.

Pallbearers were Brad Young, Bryan Young, Edward Young, Philip Magness, Sean Magness and Tom Jacobs.
