Barbara Ewers Maines

Barbara Ewers Maines, age 86, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away on December 19, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ida (Langley) Buser and the beloved wife of the late Letcher "Dick" Maines.

Barbara was a devoted member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Fallston. She enjoyed a fulfilling career at Aberdeen Proving Ground, retiring as a program support assistant in January 2005 after over 22 years of dedicated service. Her career began at Edgewood Arsenal, where she worked for the Army Chemical Center.

Barbara found joy in her community and spent her free time participating in activities at the Joppatowne Senior Center. She was an avid player of BINGO with the 50 Plus Club alongside her dear friend Ann Golden. The two shared a special bond, often taking car rides together to explore new places. She enjoyed attending aerobics classes in Harford County for 37 years. Outside of her work and social activities, Barbara had a deep love for the outdoors. She enjoyed taking care of her garden, camping, and spending time outdoors. Her warmth, kindness, and spirit of adventure touched all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her son, Charles L. Ewers, Jr. and his wife Lissa of Churchville, MD; daughter, Faye L. Wilkinson of Perry Hall, MD; grandchildren, Gregory C. Meise and Hunter C. Hughes; brothers, Edward J. Buser, Jr., John J. Buser, and Joseph W. Buser; sisters, M. Bernadine Gorham, Anna B. Crouse Alevato, Gertrude B. Nichols, and Dorothy Faye Buser.

In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her first spouse, Charles Lawler Ewers, Sr.
