Barbara Lynn Barmer, age 60, of Joppa, MD, died on July 21, 2011 at Franklin Square Hospital in Rossville, MD. Born in King of Prussia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Rudolph Frazier and Selena Barbara Howard Gaskins. She graduated from West Philadelphia High School, Lincoln University in Oxford, PA, and received her Masters Degree from Loyola University. She retired from the Harford County Public School System and was a member of the Harford County Teachers Association. A wonderful artist, she also enjoyed reading and singing, and gave her support to the schools in Africa. She won the Citizen of the Year Award from the Joppatowne Lions Club and was voted The Most Beautiful Person in Harford County on two different occasions. A longtime member of the Church of the Resurrection, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a Vestry Member, former rectors warden and was very involved with the Copley Kids Program as volunteer tutor, co-founder, and president.
Mrs. Barmer is survived by her husband of 28 years, Josh W. Barmer Jr. of Joppa, MD; sons, Clinton E. Johnson of Joppa, MD, Josh W. Barmer III of Edgewood, MD, Anthony M. Barmer of Abingdon, MD, David A. Barmer of Joppa, MD, and Lewis McKisset of Washington, DC; daughter, Angela D. Barmer of Portsmouth, VA; brothers, Ernest R. Frazier of Middletown, DE, Harry C. Frazier of Washington, DC, and Roger E. Frazier of Palmdale, CA; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
