Bel Air

Barbara LaPorta, age 63, a beloved resident of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on February 4, 2024, at Bel Air Assisted Living in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in East Orange, New Jersey, she was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Virginia (Carole) Scott and devoted wife of Jeffrey LaPorta for 35 years. Barbara dedicated over 30 years of her life as a passionate physical therapist assistant, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those she helped.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Barbara was known for her unwavering love for animals, particularly dogs. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her career, and she actively supported animal welfare causes.

Barbara found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. She spent quiet days at home immersed in her favorite 90's sitcoms, finding comfort in their familiarity. However, she also embraced the beauty of the outdoors, with excursions to the beach, especially Rehoboth Beach, holding a special place in her heart.

In addition to her husband, Jeffrey, Barbara is survived by her daughters, Paige LaPorta and her significant other Kevin Fogarty of Superior, CO, and Jill Turek, and her husband James of Fallston, MD. She is also survived by her brother, Dick Scott, and his wife Markie.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Virginia Scott, and her brother, Cary Scott. Their memories will forever linger as a testament to the bonds of family and the enduring love Barbara held for them.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090, reflecting Barbara's deep commitment to the welfare of animals. You may also use these links:
