Barbara Arletta Louise Colfer, age 82, of Marco Island, FL, formerly of Darlington and Bel Air, MD, died on November 17, 2008, at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, FL. Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late James Smith and Louise Marland, and wife of the late Dr. Richard James Colfer. Right after high school she worked for the F.B.I. where she was sworn in by J. Edgar Hoover. She was an R.N. at a pediatric hospital in Washington, D.C. and worked at Franklin Square Hospital where she met her husband. She was married for 47 years to Dr. Colfer, who was a physician and Deputy Medical Examiner for Harford and Cecil counties. She had also enjoyed roller skating and ice skating. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and was a member of the Oriole Dog Training Club.
Mrs. Colfer is survived by a son, Richard Marshall Colfer of Baltimore, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Joan M. Colfer and Carl Kepford, of Marco Island, FL; and her cousin, Alma Noble. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Carole Hills.
