Barbara A. Schultz of Bel Air, MD passed away on March 9, 2013 at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson. She was 72. Born March 15, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was the daughter of the late Carlton E. Brown and Alice Twilley Brown and the wife of Mark P. Schultz whom she married in 1967. Her family moved to Frederick in 1947. She graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park and Case Western Reserve University and was a librarian in public and special libraries in Maryland, Ohio, Colorado and California. After her retirement from the Department of Veterans Affairs, she worked part-time in libraries at Aberdeen Proving Ground. She was a past president of Soroptimist International of Chillicothe, OH and Bel Air, MD and the Maryland Association of Health Sciences Librarians. She was a member of the Bel Air United Methodist Church and served on the Thomas Run Church Foundation, Inc. For a number of years she volunteered at the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution. She enjoyed exploring back roads and liked to introduce friends to new places. Her husband and she traveled extensively through the U.S. and made a number of trips abroad.
Mrs. Schultz is survived by several cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter S. Fischer and her sister, Carolyn B. Wright.
