Augustus ''Gus'' Panos

Augustus "Gus" Panos, age 83, of Bel Air, MD, died on March 30, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Bel Air, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Pota Manos Panos. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during WWII. He retired, after 42 years with C&P Telephone Company, where he was an engineer and had also helped with the family business, Candy Kitchen, which later became Panos Bar & Grill. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, American Legion in Bel Air, Jack Bailey Bowling League at Forest Hill Lanes, and the Senior Golf League at Geneva Farms Golf Course. He coached Little League Baseball for his children and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, cooking, golfing, and bowling.

Mr. Panos is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Barrow Panos of Bel Air, MD; son, Peter A. Panos and wife, Patricia L., of Bel Air, MD; daughters, Victoria C. Panos of Bel Air, MD, Mary P. Strickland and husband, James, of Goldvein, VA, and Elizabeth A. Tolliver and husband, Mike, of Bel Air, MD; brother, Peter N. Panos of Bel Air, MD; sister, Pauline McGreevy of Bear, DE; grandchildren, Albert C. Hartman Jr., Tammy L. Hartman, Todd A. Hartman, Elizabeth A. Strickland, Teresa M. Strickland, James D. Strickland, Christopher M. Tolliver, and Scott A. Tolliver; and great-grandchildren, Ryan A. Nelson, Matthew A. Hartman, and Alexander Hartman.

Pallbearers will be Christopher M. Tolliver, Scott A. Tolliver, James D. Strickland, Ryan A. Nelson, Albert C. Hartman Jr., and Todd A. Hartman.
