Audrey J. Maskavich

Audrey Joyce Maskavich (nee Ferree) of Aberdeen, formerly of Catonsville, died December 10, 2022 at the age of 95. Born on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1927 in Newark, New Jersey to William J. Carpenter, Jr. and Maybelle Iles Ferree, she is the last grandchild of William Iles and Mary Cady (Keady) who came to the United States in the 1880’s from Ireland.

Audrey was a graduate of the Class of 1945 of the Institute of Notre Dame. She attended Strayer Secretarial School, but soon found work with AAA of Maryland. She was especially proud of her work on the School Safety Patrol that was implemented in schools. She also worked at the Sun papers, taking advertising information on the phone. She and her husband, John F. Maskavich, married at St. Mary’s Govans in 1950. As her children grew, she worked in retail. Her fondest memories and long friendships came from her co-workers at Hess Shoes and Van Dyke & Bacon. She lived at Aberdeen, MD for 15 years and enjoyed the company of many of her neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Ferree Maskavich. Audrey is survived by daughter Mary Martha Swanson (Joel); sons, John F. Maskavich (Kim) and Paul A. Maskavich (Barbara). She is also survived by her grandchildren Paige, Karley, Zachary, Colin, Christopher, and Tyler and great-grandsons, Wyatt and Hayden.
