Audrey B. Allan, of Joppa, MD, died at the age of 84 on October 30, 2016 at her home from Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Norwalk, CT to Stephen and Hazel Alberta (Shriver) Bardos. She attended local schools and graduated as her high school Valedictorian. She then attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine where she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, graduating in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Spanish.
In 1956, Audrey married Craig R. Allan, a scientist at Edgewood Arsenal whom she met at Bates College. She earned a Masters Degree in Library Science at Towson University and worked in the Harford County Library system, sometimes driving the Book Mobile route through Jarrettsville and Pylesville.
Audrey and Craig had two sons, Laird Baker Allan, a Marine Biologist in Bangkok, Thailand; and Reid Shriver Allan, a Hydrogeologist in Hesperus, Colorado. During their college years, Audrey became an in-home tutor and advocate for children with learning differences such as Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder. She taught over 100 students during her 34 year teaching career. She also retained a love for gardening, corresponding and travel.
In addition to her husband and sons, she is survived by her grandchildren, Sirilais, Alexander and Sirilada; and daughters-in-law, Siriparn and Ann.
