Aruna Pandya, wife of Jagdish Pandya left us on Friday, July 9, 2021 at her son's home in Fallston, MD at approximately 9:00 AM after more than a five year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). PSP is an uncommon brain disorder that causes serious problems with walking, balance and eye movements, and later with talking and swallowing. She was the beloved mother of Saumil and his wife Shweta and Amisha and her husband Sergei. She was also the cherished grandmother of Aleksandr, Shraddha, Shivani, Dhirendr, and Siddharth.
Aruna and Jagdish were married for 55 years, and have been active members of the Gujarati community in Baltimore since they moved to Baltimore from North Carolina in 1974. They participated in the formation of the Samaj in the mid seventies, and Jagdish served as President of the Samaj in 1992.
Aruna had a kindness that was infectious. Her beautiful smile and loving nature touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was classically trained in voice, and graced many functions as well as her family with her beautiful singing. She was also known as a superb cook, making the tastiest food around.
She will be missed by all of us. We will carry her memory in our hearts and honor her by living in her image.
