Arthur M. Mayfield Sr., age 79, of Perryman and has recently moved to Havre de Grace, MD passed away on March 12, 2017 at Lorien Riverside in Belcamp, MD. Born in Sabraton, WV, he was the son of Arthur Harry Mayfield and Martha Beatrice (Reynolds) Thomas. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Art worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground for 21 years as Assistant Director of Training and assisted in the development of the M1 A1 tank. He was an extra in a few movies which included The Replacements, Cecil B. Demented and Alien Rampage. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying Cessna's and Pipers, and loved fishing, hunting and playing darts. His ancestry was part Mohegan Indian.
Mr. Mayfield is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Virginia Mayfield; sons, Dale M. Mayfield of PA and Arthur M. Mayfield, Jr. of Essex; daughter, Tina Rawl and son-in-law Joe Rawl of Havre de Grace; grandchildren, Eric Mayfield and Ashley Mayfield of Essex; and sister, Judith Slutz of Canton, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Betty Mayfield.
