Arthur "Art" George Sooy

Arthur “Art” George Sooy, age 74, passed away peacefully at home in Bel Air, Maryland on August 18th, 2023. He was the son of the late Morris and Thelma (Riccard) Sooy of Bridgeton, New Jersey. Art attended Bridgeton schools and spent a lifetime working in the construction trades. He was well known and loved for his singing and dancing skills, as well as his entertaining dry sense of humor. Art’s favorite things were black and white western movies, Fox News, Salem Light cigarettes and spending time with his family. Art never missed an opportunity to call a pretty woman “Darlin”. 

Art is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Dawn Malseed Sooy; daughter Michelle (David) Sooy; sons, David (Denise) Sooy, Travis (Ashley) Malseed, and Austin Malseed; brother, Jesse (Linda); sister, Charlotte (Bill) Blizzard; grandchildren Russell (Alexis), Jay, Grady and Colton; and one great grandson, Colton. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Maurice Sooy and his sister Gloria Olivetti.

The family will be announcing a memorial service at a later date.
