Anthony "Skip" James Filiaggi, Jr.

November 11, 1944 — February 21, 2024

Anthony “Skip” James Filiaggi Jr., age 79, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away on February 21, 2024, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Anthony and Rita (Brown) Filiaggi and husband of Donna (Schatz) Filiaggi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Anthony, affectionately known as "Skip," had a passion for model trains, particularly during Christmas time. He found joy in watching westerns, documentaries, and sci-fi movies. Known for his knack for fixing anything broken, he was a handyman in his own right. Skip cherished his conversations with his brother, often calling him multiple times throughout the day. Despite not venturing far from home, he had a tendency to get lost in his own neighborhood.

During the Vietnam War, Skip served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy, assigned to the aircraft carriers Intrepid (CV-11) and Forrestal (CV-59). He served as a plane captain for an A4 Skyhawk on the ships, responsible for all components of the plane including fuel, weapons, and maintenance. He even befriended the ship's chef to indulge in his love for food.

In addition to Wife Donna, Anthony is survived by his Son, Anthony James Filiaggi III and his Fiancée Cathy LaRuffa; Daughter Ericka Jourdan, Son in Law Joe Jourdan; Grandchildren Lauren Karr, Kailey Jourdan, Kendall Filiaggi, Ethan Jourdan, Madison Filiaggi, Isabella Jourdan; Great Granddaughter, Oakley Karr; Brother, Mark Filiaggi; and Sister Gloria Mazzulli. He is predeceased by Daughter in Law Danyelle Filiaggi.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
