Anne V. Seymour, age 82, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2022. Born in North Wilkesboro, North Carlina, Mrs. Seymour was the first child of Lewis and Jestina Vickery. The family made their home in the High Country of Western North Carolina, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Anne enjoyed girl scouting and fondly remembers her years as a summer camp counselor. Most of all, she adored spending time with her nearby grandparents, especially her grandmother who first introduced her to music and the arts. After graduating from high school, Anne attended East Carolina University where she majored in Music. She was a talented vocalist who toured with the USO, traveling as far as Greenland to perform for our troops. Upon graduation from East Carolina, Mrs. Seymour accepted a position as a music teacher at Aberdeen High School where she also met the late Albert F. Seymour, her beloved husband of 57 years. Anne spent her entire career as a music teacher for Harford County Public Schools, stepping away only for that period when her three children were very young. In 1980, she returned to a full-time role at Youths Benefit Elementary School where she remained until her retirement.
Anne’s lifelong passion for music, arts, and teaching was instilled early on and became a source of great happiness for her. She clearly enjoyed freely sharing her many talents with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. At the First Presbyterian Church of Bel Air, Anne was a choir member for more than 4 decades as well as Director of the Bell Choir. She could paint, quilt, crochet, sew, and knit as well as sing, play and teach piano, play the banjo and clog! Anne was a lifelong member and officer of the local PEO Chapter, a philanthropic organization focused on providing educational opportunities for female students worldwide. She will be dearly missed.
Anne is survived by her sons Albert Seymour (Amy Mank-Seymour) and Robert Seymour; daughter, Katherine Johnson; and grandchildren, Ian Seymour, Isabelle Seymour, Elliott Seymour, Elizabeth Johnson, and Sarah Johnson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother Neil Vickery.
