Anne ''Nancy'' Holmes

Anne "Nancy" Holmes, age 85, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on August 26, 2013 at Lorien Riverside in Belcamp, MD. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in Northumberland England, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Annie Elizabeth Smith Wafer and wife of the late George Scott Holmes. She grew up in Wallsend on Tyne, England. Nancy graduated from St. Columbus Catholic School. As a teenager she was a member of the Girl Guide Organization. She graduated Skerry's Commercial College in Newscastle with secretarial training. In 1946 she married her husband. In 1951, they immigrated to the USA with two young daughters, where later, they had a son. She had worked as a medical secretary in Ridgewood, NJ. Nancy was a member of the Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association since 1960.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by her son, Michael G. Holmes and wife, Jan, of Florida, NY; daughter, Yvonne Holmes Guenthner and husband, Fred, of Bel Air, MD; brother, Ray Wafer of England; nine grandchildren, Michael Citro, Victoria Winstel, David Citro, Christa Ward, Sondra Horsky, Beth Fowlie, Colin Holmes, Brandon Holmes and Ryan Holmes; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and brothers and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Shirley Klink.

At their request, Nancy and George's cremated remains will go home to England to be scattered upon the River Tyne.
