Anne Marie Kurtz of Aberdeen, MD died April 14, 2012 at her residence at Avondell Assisted Living in Bel Air, MD. She was 89. Born Anne Marie Jersey on June 28, 1922 at home in Harford Furnace, MD, she was the daughter of the late Albert P. Jersey Sr. and Theresa Catherine Supik. During the war (WWII) Anne worked at the Glenn L. Martin Company in Dundalk working on airplanes and became one of the "Rosie the Riveter" girls. After the war, Anne worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Belcamp, MD. There she met her husband, Postmaster Phillip J. Kurtz of Aberdeen. They continued to work together for many years. Phillip retired and Anne became Postmaster which ended in 1981 and 35 years of service. She was a life member of the VFW and American Legion in Aberdeen. During this time she lived in Aberdeen and was also a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. In her later years, she moved into Avondell, an Independent and Assisted Living Facility on Ring Factory Road in Bel Air. She was one of their first residents.
Anne is survived by her sisters, Teresa J. Williams of Edgewater, MD and Elizabeth Reynolds of Schoolcraft, MI; and 11 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Phillip J. Kurtz; her brothers, Albert P. Jersey and Thomas E. Jersey; and sister, Catherine A. Hess.
Pallbearers were Stephen P. Jersey, Michael S. Williams, Michael Monticello, William Reynolds, Dennis Makielski, and Mary Reynolds.
