Annabelle M. Francis, age 98, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away on March 14, 2025, at Laurelwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Elkton, Maryland. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Theresa (Tremper) Simmons. She was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late Grayson Eugene Francis.
Annabelle worked as a crane operator for Bethlehem Steel and was known for her work ethic. She rode a BSA motorcycle and loved taking care of her yard and home, particularly her garden and flowers. Annabelle enjoyed entertaining friends and family, hosting lively gatherings and parties. She and her late husband Grayson also spent many summers on the water, enjoying fishing trips and stopping at waterfront restaurants on their boat.
Annabelle is survived by her son, Robert Horsey of Elkton, MD; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Robert, and Michelle; three great-grandchildren, David, Dustin, and Dylan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grayson Eugene Francis; her son, James Horsey; her father, Ernest Chas Simmons; her mother, Theresa Eva Simmons; her siblings: Josephine, Margaret, Herman, and Leonard; and her great-grandson, Robert.
