Anna R. (“Jeanne”) Gessner died on August 14, 2021, at Brightview Senior Living in Bel Air. Born in Essex, Maryland on February 3, 1929, she is survived by her brother, Charles J. Thim of Essex, Maryland, another brother, William Thim; five children, Mary L. Harris, and her husband Keith, John J. Gessner, and his wife, Anne, all of Bel Air, William G. Gessner, and wife Karen, of Hatboro Pennsylvania, Frederick M. Gessner, M D., and his wife, Sheila, of Newport News, Virginia, and Carl E. Gessner, M.D., and his wife Debbie, of Greensboro, North Carolina, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, John E. Gessner, M.D., she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Edge, Bernadette Schaech, Catherine Thim, Margaret Thim, Richard Thim and Patricia Callanan.
Jeanne was very bright and talented. If she had been born in a different time, no doubt she would have had a successful professional career outside of the home. However, once she married and became a mother, she devoted her life to her family. Simply put, she loved her family and her family loved her. She is gone now but she will remain in our hearts forever.
Her health deteriorated rapidly just prior to her death. However, with her faith in God for support, she bravely faced the end, with grace, equanimity and without complaint. In this regard, the family wants to thank the staff of Brightview Senior Living and Amedysis Health Systems for the expert and compassionate care they provided to her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to the charity of your choice.
