Anna Louise Moore

Anna “Ann” Louise Moore, departed this life on May 19, 2022 at the age of 76 at her home in Joppatowne, MD. Born November 2, 1945 to the late Lloyd Andrew and Anna Louise (Norton) Harris, she was a devoted member of Rooted Bible Fellowship Church in Edgewood, MD. She was previously a member of Holy Temple in Aberdeen and John Wesley UMC of Abingdon, MD. She served as a treasurer, usher, and a choir member throughout her tenure at all three churches.

Ann attended Central Consolidated Colored School in Hickory, MD where she was crowned Miss Central of her senior graduating class of 1963. She continued to further her education by attending The Cortez Peters Business School in Baltimore, MD.

Like all her siblings, she worked at the family businesses Harris Brothers Trash Removal/Bush Valley Landfill. Simultaneously, she began her career at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) as the Director of Logistics in the ammunition supply division, where she dedicated 38 years of service. During her time there, she received several awards and honors and made memorable bonds with her co-workers Saundra, Dawn, and Miss Mary who became her work family.

In addition to her dedication to her faith, career, and community, she was thoroughly committed to all her grandchildren, well known as the “A-Unit”.

Ann was referred to as C-N-N due to her ability to stay in the know and offer “live, local, and late-breaking” news. She knew how to get her family on a 3-way call before anyone knew what that was. You could call her at any time day or night, and she would answer, ready to send out the bat signal and rally the Harris troops. In addition to keeping everyone in the loop, she often showed her love by cooking for her family and friends; with crab cakes, crab soup, chicken salad and succotash being her most requested dishes. You could always catch her at Richardson’s Farm Market “Da Chicken Farm”, ShopRite and for the best steamed crabs, Winter’s Run Inn or Richard’s fish and crabs of Churchville… paired with an ice-cold Pepsi of course. When she wasn't on a trip to one of these markets, you could find her on the phone daily, updating everybody on everybody, after receiving her morning coffee from her nephew Alvin.

Ann loved her family and was a key figure in many cherished family memories and hilarious stories. One such story is the Great Ham incident of Harford County, co-starring her sister Charlotte.

As told by Ann, “when shopping at ShopRite, I used Charlotte’s Shoprite Club Card which she could redeem a free ham, and since I KNOW I put more points on there than her, I upgraded my ham to the spiral cut. Well, when Charlotte went to Shoprite to redeem her free ham, she was less than pleased, to say the least, to find out the ham was already redeemed. Hence, she called for an investigation that lasted for days requesting to pull the security footage. Charlotte immediately called Ann to report the findings, which she already knew the culprit was her after being able to view the receipt and seeing the purchase of Pepsi’s and Capri Suns for her great grandchildren. The Harford County ham drama ended after Charlotte was awarded her ham. However, this incident initiated a new policy at Shoprite where you would have to show ID to redeem free items.

Ann leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son John “Blaze” Alford (Roslyn); grandchildren, Isaac Alford (Felicia), Alexandria Alford, Jaron Darden, Zachary Alford, Taylor Burke, Antonio Alford, Benjamin Alford, Angel Alford, Dominic Malone-Alford and Kendre Stanley; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Lennox and Gianna Alford, and Kendre Stanley Jr.

Sisters: Linda Johnson , Denise Stokes, and Laura Cromwell. Sisters- in Law: Connie Harris and Rhonda Harris . Brothers: Charles Harris (Renee’) of Manning, SC, James “Pop” Harris (Paula), and Roger Harris (Catherine) . Aunt: Mildred “Roach” Norton and a special neighbor and friend Shelia Thompson. She also leaves to cherish over a hundred nieces and nephews; as well as a multitude of family members and friends.
