Ann Veronica Baker

March 15, 1933 — October 4, 2008

Ann Veronica Baker, age 75, of Joppa, MD, passed away at Maryland University Hospital on Saturday, October 4, 2008. Born in Weatherly, PA on 15 March, 1933, she was the daughter of Andrew V. and Mary Marusak. Mrs. Baker was a member of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, Fallston, MD. She received a degree in chemistry from Misericordia University in Dallas, PA, and did graduate work in chemistry at Pennsylvania State University. She also obtained a Masters Degree in education from Towson State University. Mrs. Baker had a varied occupational career in chemistry, having worked at NIH in cancer research, Atlas Powder Co., Penn State, and the Department of the Army. She retired from teaching chemistry at Fallston High School. Mrs. Baker spent a number of years in Europe with her husband, a Department of the Army employee, and two daughters. She was a seasoned traveler throughout Europe and enjoyed cruising, especially the Caribbean Islands. Mrs. Baker was an active swimmer and ice skater throughout her life; she also enjoyed watching football and basketball, especially her Penn State Nittany Lions, the Maryland Terps, and the Ravens. She was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress, gourmet cook and loved entertaining.

She is survived by Thomas, her husband of 53 years; two children, Cheryl Ann Fatcheric and husband, Mark Lewis, of Edgewood, and Michele Baker White, and husband Michael John, of Lititz, PA; two grandchildren, Carrie and Alicia O'Donel also of Lititz, PA; brother Andrew Marusak of Gettysburg, PA; and sister, Mary Topper of Cincinnati, OH. She was predeceased by an infant son, Michael Thomas Baker; two brothers, Carl and Francis Marusak, and two sisters, Teresa Meier and Martha Gallagher.
