ANDREW EDWARD SCHWARZ, of Bel Air, died of cancer on Monday, at home. He was 73. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine A. Taylor Schwarz.
Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Albert Andrew and Catherine Ann Russell Schwarz. He was a graduate of Polythechnic High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Army. He worked for Martin Marietta Company as a machinist and supervisor for 10 years. He worked on projects involved in early space missions. He took classes at night, eventually graduating from the University of Baltimore. He joined the Anchor Post Products and Fence Company where he was employed for 25 years as a purchasing agent and plant manager. After retiring in 1993, he went to work for the Harford County Public School System in the Food Services Division.
He was a gifted woodworker. He especially enjoyed making wooden toys, crafts, cradles, and cribs for family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Schwarz is survived by four sons, Michael E. Schwarz and his wife, Maureen, of Cincinnati, Ohio, William E. Schwarz of Angola, Indiana, Edward J. Schwarz and his wife, Lisa, of Bel Air, and Thomas E. Schwarz and his wife, Wendy, of Street; one daughter, Linda M. Jenkins and her husband, Thomas R., of Forest Hill; one brother, Albert A. Schwarz of Dundalk; two sisters, Margaret M. Kraft of Perry Hall and Helen M. Schwarz of Perry Hall; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Charles Malthan.
