Alvin “Al” C. Hoerl, age 89, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on January 18, 2023, at his home. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Eleanor (Hoerl) Poole and Ralph C. Poole and husband of the late Patricia (Wartman) Hoerl. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Al was an avid golfer and a member at Winters Run Golf Club for over 30 years. As a skilled mechanic, he enjoyed working on cars for anyone who needed it. Al was a Mr. Fix It! If it was broken, he could fix it. But first and foremost, Al was a family man. He loved spending time with his family, especially at family meals and gatherings at his house.
Al is survived by his daughters, Kathy Foehrkolb, Terri El-Jallad (and husband, Khader) and Diane Stevens (Edward); son, Tom Hoerl (and wife, Kristina); grandchildren, Ryan El-Jallad (and wife, Shereen Roll), Louis Foehrkolb (and wife, Amy), Laila El-Jallad (and husband, Trevor Morris), Lisa Foehrkolb, Amanda Foehrkolb, Abid El-Jallad (and wife, Rand Al-Kurd), Denise Hoerl, Amy Stevens, Erin Hoerl and Andrew Stevens; great grandchildren, Isabeau VonBogert, Alex McClafferty, Dexter McClafferty, Sheena Foehrkolb and Ruby Foehrkolb; sister, Eleanor Bray; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Poole and sister, Constance Chesser.
