Altha Iola Gragg, age 91, of Bel Air, MD, died on May 14, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Bristol, TN, she was the daughter of the late Hillary McDougle and Mary Rebecca Brown Edmondson, and wife of the late Robert A. Gragg. In 1945, she was employed by the War Department, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD as a telephone operator for the Supply Division. She has worked for the C&P Telephone Company and as a beautician at Ruth's Beauty Shop in Bel Air. Mrs. Gragg was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church and attended services at Harford Senior Worship Center. She resided at Harford Senior Housing since 1982 and valued friendships of many there.
Mrs. Gragg is survived by her daughter, Patricia D. Brown and her husband, Daniel, of Elkton, MD and children; Scott Carter of Street, MD, Mark Carter and wife, Wendy and their children, Evan and Megan, of St. Petersburg, FL. Also survived by granddaughters, Dawn Hoffmann and husband, Henry, and their daughter, Jessica, of Jarrettsville, MD, and Kim Vegter and sons, Kyle, Ross, and Ray of Ormond Beach, FL In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Bill F. Gragg, and brother, Carl Edmondson.
As part of her last wishes, Mrs. Gragg asked that there would be no formal funeral services, but a private memorial service will be held at Harford Senior Worship Center at a later date.
