Alice Young Smith, age 63, of Bel Air, MD passed away on February 18, 2014 at home with her family by her side. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, she is the daughter of Ruth Y. Brannan of Bel Air and the late John Edward Young. A lifelong resident of Harford County, she taught math at Aberdeen High School for six years and worked at Maryland National Bank, for over 30 years, which later became Bank of America. She enjoyed crafts, traveling, shopping, and playing bridge. Alice also enjoyed Baltimore Ravens football and attended both Super Bowl victories.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, whom she married in 1971, James Claude Smith Jr.; daughter, April L. Smith of Owings Mills; son, James Chadwick Smith of Austin, TX; five nieces, two nephews; numerous cousins; uncle, Robert M. Worthington and aunt, Evelyn Bell Riley Hess. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, John Edward Young, Jr. and Clarence Earl Young.
