Alexander A. Platis

Alexander Agapios Platis, age 98, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on June 5, 2023 at Sterling Care Riverside in Belcamp, Maryland. Born in Chios, Greece, he was the son of Agapios and Maria (Saliris) Platis and husband of the late Pope Platis. He served in the Greek Army and came to the United States through an arranged marriage. He was the proud owner of Tony's Restaurant and Marine Lounge, Ryder's on the Bay, Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips, and Briarwood Inn. He enjoyed veggie and fruit gardening and reading. Alexander loved spending time with family, friends and enjoyed traveling to Greece.
     
Alexander is survived by his daughters, Maria (Timothy) Conway, Rena (Donald) Beckhorn and Missy Dziewiatkowski; son, Mitchell Platis; and grandchild, Alexa Conway.
 
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Nicko Platis, Mitchell Platis, Anthony Platis, George Platis and John Platis; and sisters, Despina Platis, Katie Tetteries, Marina Platis and Xanthie Tsakiries
