ALEXANDER MILLER, age 71, of Joppatowne, passed away suddenly in Franklin Square Hospital on May 14, 2004. Born December 30, 1932 in Glasgow, Scotland, he was the son of the late William and Ina Stewart Miller. He married the girl next door, Ann Cunningham on March 26, 1960. They spent their first year of marriage in Hong Kong where he worked in the ship building industry. They returned to Scotland and started a family. After the birth of their second child they moved to Montreal, Canada and eventually to Maryland. Alex worked at Sparrows Point Shipyard for the remainder of his career. He was a chief planner for ship building and repair. In 1975, he became a proud American citizen, while still remaining a proud Scot. He avidly followed the Glasgow Rangers, the Baltimore Orioles, the Colts and later, the Baltimore Ravens.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann Miller; two sons, Stuart Alexander Miller of Baltimore; Kevin W. Miller and his wife, Jeanette of Aberdeen; two daughters, Alison Lancey and her husband, John of Crofton, Maryland; Valerie Miller of Joppatowne; one sister, Valerie Thompson of Greenock, Scotland; sister-in-law, Rae Miller of Port Glasgow, Scotland; loving “Pop” of four grandchildren, Alex and Shauna Lancey of Crofton, Maryland; Kevin and Kyle Miller of Aberdeen.
