Albert Lloyd "Nick" Nickerson, 79, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on June 2, 2015 while surrounded by his loving family at his home. Born in Wheeling, WV, he was the son of the late Harry Nickerson and Madeline Paxton Miller. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was employed as an electrician working for Glen L. Martin and Aberdeen Proving Ground. In 1955, after getting out of the Navy, he met his wife Shirley Ann Rice at the Wheeling Park Summer Dance.
Mr. Nickerson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley A. Nickerson; daughters, Diana Walto of Bel Air, MD and Cyndi Nickerson Lewis of Street; sister, Loretta Nickerson Senkbiel of Wheeling, WV; grandchildren, Rev. William Lasley and Ashley Walto; great-grandchildren, Ayden Lasley, Ryan Walto and Julian Walto; and many loving nieces and nephews in WV, FL and CA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Dyke, Howard and Harry Miller, and George Miller Chase and sisters, Margaret Miller Fleming, Thelma Miller Weaver, Emma Nickerson Griffith, Helen Miller Mozingo and Ann Miller Krieger; and grandson, Sammy Walto Jr.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Griffith, Mark Griffith, Ayden Lasley, Sam Walto, Butch Grover, Dan Michelberger. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Rio and Ryan Walto.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Amedisys Home Health Care and Hospice and Right At Home Maryland.
