Albert F. Seymour, age 85, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2022. Born outside the small community of Royal Oak on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in Talbot County, Mr. Seymour, was the second of Louise (Barnes) Seymour’s four children. He spent his early years milking cows, gathering fresh eggs and harvesting corn, soybeans and wheat on the family dairy and cash crop farm. After graduating from St. Michael’s High School in 1954, Mr. Seymour attended Salisbury State Teachers College where he earned dual degrees in English and History. Immediately upon graduation, Mr. Seymour accepted a position as an English teacher at Aberdeen High School- the first of many roles in his 38-year career with the Harford County Public Schools. He retired in 1997 after serving as deputy superintendent for 4 years and was inducted into the Harford County Public School Educator Hall of Fame in 2001. Mr. Seymour’s dedication to Harford County Public Schools was a labor of love. While he found joy in every task he was assigned, it was his humility and desire to make others shine that truly characterized his brilliant career.
To know Mr. Seymour personally was a privilege. He was a gentleman, modest and respectful, with an unflagging work ethic. Above all, Mr. Seymour was an eternal optimist and chose to see the best in everyone and every situation no matter how difficult or challenging. Even in his later years and with his failing health, he was always “wonderful”, and he will be dearly missed.
Albert is survived by his wife of 57 years Anne (Vickery) Seymour, his sons Albert Seymour (Amy Mank-Seymour) and Robert Seymour; daughter, Katherine Johnson; and grandchildren, Ian Seymour, Isabelle Seymour, Elliott Seymour, Elizabeth Johnson and Sarah Johnson.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William Seymour, Donna June Trout and Rumsey Seymour.
