ADDISON N. HARKINS, age 91, of Bel Air, died at Mariner Health of Bel Air on July 28, 2003. Born on his family’s farm at Harkins Shops near Chestnut Hill, he was the first child of the late Thomas Norman and Bertha Lou Monks Harkins, and the husband of the late Viola Gunther Harkins. He worked on the family farm for many years before going to work for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company where he retired after 40 years of service. He attended Deer Creek United Methodist Church his entire life and served on the church cemetery board for several years.
Mr. Harkins is survived by one son, George A. Harkins and his wife, Mary of Bel Air; one brother, Edward W. Harkins of Forest Hill; two sisters, Dorothy Sexton of Bel Air; Hazel Laird of Bel Air; grandchildren, Lisa Maxwell and her husband, Edward Maxwell of Forest Hill; Stephanie Harkins of Forest Hill; Amanda Harkins of Forest Hill; Gregory Harkins of Timonium; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, William T. Harkins and Wylie Harkins.
