Grayson Robert DeWitt, age 3, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on October 15, 2020. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Amy Riegger and the late Jason DeWitt.
To know Grayson was to know that when you walked into the room you would be greeted with a bright smile and a repeated hello. His smile was both infectious and comforting. A smile that shined the brightest around family, Buckley his fur brother, and (depending on the day) Mickey Mouse, Blippi, Transformers, Paw Patrol or Moana.
Grayson’s attentiveness to detail was as impressive as it was amusing. Beginning his reading career early, he latched on in amazing ways to sounds, words, and patterns. He paired this with his love of certain phrases and expressed himself vocally to all that would listen. A true enthusiast for learning, Grayson was determined to master any new challenge thrown his way.
Grayson lived life in the fast lane, never walking, but sprinting from one adventure to the next. He was always ready to tackle the next playground or pool and loved to be outside. Whether it was chasing his friends and Buckley, letting the hose spray his face on hot summer days or sliding down his own backyard playset, Grayson was always ready for fun.
In everything he did there was joy, unless you attempted to get him to try new foods. Grayson knew what he liked and taught us all about going for exactly what you want in life. His life brought love and laughter... quiet laughter... into the lives of many, each day modeling for the rest of us how to experience all emotions fully, but especially love.
In addition to his mother, Grayson is survived by his grandparents, Robert and Rosalie Riegger and Douglas and Mary Ellen DeWitt; uncles, Christopher (Paul Overbay) Riegger and Michael (Allison) Riegger; aunt, Jennifer DeWitt; cousins, Harley, Cain and Madison; "Big Brother", Buckley; and many other loving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Brandon Tolson Foundation, 1443 Rock Spring Road, Bel Air, MD 21014.
